This year, the biggest moment from the Met Gala 2014 at The Costume Institute won’t be on the red carpet. It’ll be at the end of it, when Anna Wintour opens the doors and they have her name on it. Okay, not literally – but The Institute, home to the world’s most influential pieces in fashion history, will be renamed “The Anna Wintour Costume Center.”
A pretty big honor, if you ask me (well, and everyone else). But this is just the latest in fashion feats for the veteran Vogue editor. Just last year, she was named artistic director for all of Condé Nast. Which begs the question: what’s next? What’s an editor in chief to do once she’s already conquered every aspect of the fashion world? Make a run for commander in chief? Probably not – though, ahh, what a stylish nation we would be – considering she’s hoping for Hillary to run in 2016. For now, I’ll entertain the idea that she’s destined for something even greater, like total world domination.
