Big Money: 4 Wardrobe Staples Worth Investing In

Fact: there’s style worth spending a little on. And then there’s style worth the splurge. I like to call the latter “investment pieces.” You know, the kind of quality wardrobe staples you can turn to day after day, year after year. Here, four must-haves that are worth every last penny.

St. John

A Black Blazer: We all know the blazer’s a 9-to-5 staple, but it’s rapidly become common for everyday dressing, too. Throw it over a flirty dress or pair it with skinnies for a more casual look. Just remember – fit’s everything. (Peep these tips to get it right.)

A Bouclé Jacket: If Anna Wintour and Jackie O adore it, we do it. Trendsetters have been wearing this feminine style for decades, but that doesn’t mean it has to look dated. Dress it down with jeans or go edgy with leather leggings.

A Jersey Wrap Dress: The wrap dress is a universally flattering look – a spot-on combination of office-appropriate and flirty. Take a cue from the queen of the wrap dress, Diane von Furstenberg, and look for this piece in a jersey fabric, which flatters curves and clings to the body in all the right places.

Opaque Tights: They’re a great way to transition your wardrobe into fall. But spending a fortune on a pair of tights? I could never bring myself to do it. (I mean, it’s going to run anyway, right?) Until I realized – high-quality tights not only feel luxurious, they can last the whole season and beyond. Which is, approximately, an entire season longer than that drugstore pair.

Our St. John Boutique opens Friday, September 13, at 11AM ET.
