Take It In: 3 Wardrobe Staples a Tailor Can Transform

Tailoring Nina Garcia

Nina Garcia is right, of course.  A good tailor is absolutely essential. Do you really think clothes just naturally fit celebs like a glove?

So do your research on the best tailor in your area, then grab these three key garments and see for yourself what a little tailoring can do for your figure.

Blazer. Too boxy? Have the tailor slim the jacket sleeves so there’s a more defined space between your waist and your arms.

Pants. There’s more you can do with pants than raise the hem. If they’re too big, ask your tailor to take in the seat so the fabric doesn’t bunch or gather. (If you trust your sewing skills, you can always DIY, too.)

Shift dress. To look instantly slimmer, have the tailor cinch the waist of your dress and bring in the bust, if need be. For an accurate measurement, be sure wear the same bra to your fitting that you’ll wear with the dress.
