Only a handful of fashion items ever make it to iconic status. Among the few: Hermès’s Birkin bag, Burberry’s trench, DVF’s wrap dress, and, of course, Salvatore Ferragamo’s Vara shoe, which turned 35 this summer.

To celebrate the iconic shoe’s 35th birthday, the Italian fashion house launched a new site, L’Icona, where you can not only customize your own pair (yes, you can even have the sole initialed), but also see how today’s It girls – from Mira Duma to Camilla Belle – are wearing theirs.
Needless to say, my wish list just grew by one. Or, should I say, two.
