The 3 Basics of Cashmere
Super soft. Lightweight. And made to last. Cashmere is a crucial addition to any man’s wardrobe. And with chillier days on the horizon, what better time to stock up? Here are the top three things to look for when sprucing up your arsenal.
You can tell a cashmere sweater is of good quality when it springs back if you gently pull on its sides. If it’s loosely knitted, it won’t retain its shape.
Look for garments made with a two-ply weave. The sweater will have more weight, because it’s made from two fibers twisted together rather than just one. The higher the ply, the more likely it is to last.
First, look at the label to ensure the garment is actually 100% cashmere. Then take matters into your own hands – literally. Rub the fabric between your fingers. An oily texture indicates remnants of dyes or chemicals used to make the fabric artificially soft. And over time, the sweater will become more coarse.
Our Such a Softy: Men’s Cashmere Sweaters & More Boutique opens Monday, August 19, at 11AM ET.
