Load Up on Bracelets: How to Perfect the Stack
With summer in full swing, there’s no better time to load up those bare arms with bangles, wrap bracelets, and watches galore. And, as far as I’m concerned, there’s really no wrong way to do it. But in the event that you’re a novice, here are a few tips for perfecting that oh-so-customizable stack.
Play with (not-so) heavy metal. Whether silver, gold, rose gold, copper, or brass, metals are infinitely mixable. Stick to a single color. Combine silver and gold pieces. Mix them all up. Then go ahead and wear with everything from a sophisticated sheath to a casual tank top and cutoffs.
Experiment with mixed media. Start with a leather wrap bracelet in a neutral hue, add a colorful enamel bangle (or two, or seven), and throw on a stainless steel watch. Then repeat – if you want. When your arm candy is eclectic through and through, you can get away with loading up on anything and everything. Just keep the rest of your look simple.
Pick a piece that does the work for you. Nervous about taking the plunge? Designers aplenty have gotten savvy to the art of the stack. Consider wrap watches and bracelet sets from Sara Designs, Tai, Amrita Singh, and more – they’re the proverbial training wheels you need to get started. When you’re ready, use them as the base for that every-piece-in-the-jewelry-box armload you’ve been working toward.
Our Arm Candy: Stackable Bracelets & Watches Boutique opens Friday, July 19, at 11AM.
