6 Ways to Stay Cool When the Heat Hits

It’s 85 degrees out and you still have to leave the house? We know. It’s just unreasonable. Despite the high temps, though, it is possible to uphold your style. Just stick to these six guidelines, and you won’t regret your outfit the second you’re out the door.

1. Light hues. Well, most of them, anyway. White is fail-safe when it comes to avoiding – how do they say it kindly – glistening. It reflects light and heat. Grey and light blue do, too, but they also show sweat more than others, so steer clear.

2. Long fabrics. You may think your maxi dress is holding in the heat, but that’s probably its polyester fabric. Choose one in a lightweight cotton. It will aerate while blocking the hot rays.

3. Shirtdresses. In barely there fabrics, preferably. Their natural shape bows away from your body for instant breeze access.

4. Big hats. Your body heat escapes through your head? False. Shade your face with a floppy sun hat. From boho style to a beach-strolling essential – it’s a win.

5. Sheer tops. From work to weekend, you can wear these pieces without being overexposed. Throw one on over a tank dress or layer with a light camisole.

6. Updos. No matter how much product you put in there, when the humidity is up, it’s all downhill for your hair. Get familiar with a messy updo or sleek bun.
