Rue How-To: Beach Waves for Fall

Sure, summer is over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still rock fresh from the beach waves. With these simple steps from Rue hair and make-up artist Rachael, I’m carrying the carefree summer do (a favorite of Blake Lively and Kate Hudson) straight into the autumn months.

What you need:
Volumizing hair spray
1-inch barrel curling iron (3/4 of an inch will also work)
Wide-tooth comb
Texturizing spray

Steps:
Step 1. Spray hair with hair spray.
Step 2. Open the curling iron and wrap hair around the barrel without using the clamp. Alternate the direction of your curl with each layer to give curls a messy, carefree look. On the top layers, start at the tip of your ear and curl away from the face for a more natural look.
Step 3. When finished, comb out the tight, corkscrew-like curls with a wide-tooth comb.
Step 4. Spray your waves with a texturizing spray (like sea salt) and gently loosen and separate curls with your fingers.
