Rue How-To: Upgrade Your Vases for Autumn

Fall is in the air! The leaves are starting to change here in Boston, and the air has gotten noticeably crisper in the early mornings.  So before the frost arrives and ruins those recently bloomed sunflowers, freshen up your home with this vase makeover – autumn style.

Materials:

Vase – I used a glass one, but feel free to use what you have around the house
Roll of twine
Elmer’s Glue

Directions

1. Pick a spot near the neck of the vase and, starting there, begin to wind the twine around the vase. Do not overlap the layers of twine.
2. Cut the twine so that the ends match up exactly in the back.
3. Use a drop of glue at both ends of the twine to secure in place.
4. When dry, display vase with ends hidden.
