I love football season. In truth, this is mostly due to the fact that, growing up, Sunday night football was honored with a family evening of buffalo wings, chips and dip, and soda in front of the TV.
Since I can’t be the only one who associates football with party food, here’s what you need to keep everyone full and happy – whether it’s just a few friends or the entire neighborhood.
Stick to dips.
May I introduce the savory combination of bacon and swiss cheese, in dip form. (You can thank me later.) Buffalo chicken dip is also a crowd favorite, and you can never go wrong with guacamole. Plate your favorite dips with a variety of chips, pretzels, and veggies, then let guests munch their way through the final quarter.
Serve the right drinks.
Sure, Bud Light sounds just fine, but the way to kick your game day gathering up a notch? Serve beer that pairs best with your spread of food – your friends will be genuinely impressed. But don’t go too overboard with finding obscure brands, because you’ll want the majority of your guests to drink something they like. (So make sure to throw in some soda, water, and spritzers, too!)
Don’t forget the sweets.
Every savory appetizer or entree needs a little sweet to balance it out (at least in my opinion), so keep the treats handy. From frosted football cookies and cupcakes to football cake pops, Pinterest has enough themed treats to fill a football field. And if you feel like cheating, simply buy pre-made brownies, cut them into football shapes, and give them laces with store-bought white icing. (You can find it in the baking aisle at the grocery store.)
