Fall Trend: Structured Handbags

Fall’s all about structure, so I’m swapping out my summery hobos and raffia totes with structured satchels in rich textures and leathers. They’re perfectly paired with workwear blazers, but who says they can’t work with off-duty looks, too? Here are four of my faves from today’s Cole Haan Boutique. Get ready to rock the trend with abandon – from the boardroom to brunch.

Clockwise from top left:

1. All black and textured. Nothing says city chic like luxe black leather and gold hardware. But it’s the perforated detailing that makes this beauty sing. Pair it with more black (yes, you can wear black on black) for a rocker-chic look with a very ladylike edge.

2. Bold and blue. Lizard-embossed leather, meet jewel-toned snakeskin trim. This it bag is anything but subtle. Rock it at parties with jeans and a white tee and let the bag do the talking.

3. Workday polished. Big enough to carry meeting notes, this bag has the workday at hello. I love how the subtle grey works against the snakeskin and gold trim – it’s quiet enough to not scream fashionista in the office, yet does after-hours drinks without missing a beat.

4. Cognac carryall. In fall-friendly cognac and rich, buttery leather, this is the bag to carry all season – and then some. Pack it full of essentials, pair with nubby sweaters, then hit those last outdoor brunches – and all of autumn’s activities to come – in perfectly on-trend style.
