Through the (Camera) Lens
While perusing The Cut (one of my favorite fashion blogs), I came across this fascinating article by Amy Odell that gives advice on how to increase your photo potential at Fashion Week. Amy herself was made-over as part of a journalistic experiment to see if she would get more attention if she was styled a certain way. It turns out, she absolutely did:
On the fifth day of New York Fashion Week, after a lot of careful research and planning, Team Cut turned me into a piece of street style bait with some very deliberate styling. The outfit worked, and over the following days my picture appeared on Marie Claire, StyleList, and Citizen Couture, among other sites. I have yet to find photos of myself from the other seven days I went to fashion shows in street style blog posts. But at least I mattered for a day, kind of!
As someone who literally reads fashion blogs for a living, I can tell you that her advice is spot on. If you are lucky enough to go to Fashion Week, follow Amy’s advice on how to become a street style sensation:
More is more
Pile on accessories, layers, outerwear – whatever you can find.
Rock an iconic label
Being decked in a well-recognized piece is key – but don’t overdo it.
Brighten your pout
A statement lipstick makes you look very busy and important.

My favourite piece of running gear is my iPod. When I’m on a good run and one of my favourite songs starts playing, it feels like perfection!
I found your post very informative. thank you very much!
I have seen a lot of tech reviews here, but they have been in the context of other thoughts on technology or work or leisure.
I honestly thought this would be my new favourite thing. Sniffle.
I like the valuable information you provide to your articles. I will bookmark your blog and take a look at once more right here regularly. I’m slightly certain I’ll be told many new stuff proper right here! Best of luck for the following!
Yes, I would like to win Galaxy S4 for free. I have been using apple for as long as I can remember but after hearing many rumors of the S4 and now knowing the exact specs and features of the phone, I know that my first samsung phone will definetly be the S4. Thank you Sunny for always giving the most up to date and accurate news on the S4! You made me a believer of the S4 and I would be very honored if I would be nominated to win this amazing smartphone.
Great blog! Sorry to get off subject, but since this is the time for New Year’s Resolutions, I’d like to find a great personal trainer in Nashville TN. Have you read any recent buzz? There’s a new gym called Next Level Fitness, but I’ve only seen a few reviews. Here’s the address of this new Nashville Personal Training Gym, 1917 Church Street Nashville, TN 37203 (615) 329-2747. Thoughts? Thanks!
Yes I want to win Galaxy S IV for free – Yes I love to have SIV. Now i am eagerly waiting for SIV release date. Thanks….
I recently purchased boxee box. (Three weeks ago.) Am EXTREMELY disappointed with it. I found out after the fact that I bought boxee box that they are coming out with boxee tv and will not be updating boxee box anymore. I would not/will not purchase any item that has boxee’s name on it. It’s been one of the worst experiences I have ever encountered. I have spent hours trying to get something out of this and nothing, it’s pretty much a $200.00 paperweight.

I don’t see this as a mega-mass-market product, like the iPhone.
I was very excited at the prospect of having a carpet cleaner that would steam clean and at least use hot water to clean the tough spots on my carpet. Unfortunately, the “SteamVac” doesn’t do that. It doesn’t heat the water that is being used on the carpet, nor does it produce any steam. It does blow hot air onto the carpet, though I’m not sure how that assists in cleaning the carpet.
Nice piece. Thanks for coming to the event and for pulling this together.
So I discovered that this is pretty much the exact same model as the more famous Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac with Clean SurgeIt has the clean surge as well, which does great with pet urine.I think the only difference is that it’s packaged with a small bottle of the cleaner for Pets and some wipes. As far as I can tell.I’ve been using it almost every weekend. I get down and smell the spots afterwards and only a few times did I still smell it. I used the clean surge and it did the trick. We also live where there’s new home construction and I suspect we have a lot of construction dust’ in our house. Apparently we do and for new carpet it’s amazing how brown the water is! It picks up sand that I didn’t know was there.Still fairly new so we’ll see how it ages, but so far so good. I bought a few extra gadgets for it online at and they came fast. Even though I vacuum first, I still get dog hair caught up in the intake bit and the little removal tool only gets so much. I hope that I can keep it hair-free enough to make sure it doesn’t become a problem. The fact that you can remove the brushes is great though, so you can wash them well.
Hi, is there a RJ45 port to connect ethernet cable?
Yes I want to win Galaxy S IV for free because its a damn cool phone.
I am sure this article has touched all the internet users, itsreally really good article on building up new web site.
Sir Calvin, I went to cdr king, which has a micro USB to HDMI adapter. I tried it on my nexus 7, which unfortunately did not read. The sales personnel stated the cable only supports Samsung galaxy s3 and and note 2. Do you know if there’s an app that supports this just like the nexus media importer? I unfortunately bought a more expensive Samsung OTG cable at 540 pesos as cdr king has no more stocks and it worked on my nexus using nexus media importer. I hope you can help me. Thanks.
I could be wrong but I think this is the first time I read a gadget review on this blog.
Yes I wish to win Galaxy S IV for free.I think it is amazing phone. I am from Azerbaijan and exchange student in America. I really want to win this. Thank you very much
The OTG cable isn’t as hard to find anymore. And it’s also not as expensive. i got mine from the ever famous cdrking…
Yes I want to win Galaxy S IV for free because it represents an experience not available with previous Galaxy S series phones. It features a 13 megapixel camera, fast processor and smarter features such as scrolling without touching the device. It looks like an incredible device.
