Goodbye, Summer Style (…Psych!)

Our Goodbye, Summer. Hello, Sale Boutiques open today at 3PM ET, and we’ve got some stocking up to do. Sure, it’s in the name of next summer (and balmy getaways in between), but the style opportunities don’t have to conclude once the season does. Here’s a look at some of the pieces we’re snagging, and – with just a few quick adjustments – sporting chicly year round.

Counterclockwise, from top left:

Floppy Hat
Summer Use:  Staving off crow’s feet for as long as humanly possible.
Off-Season Use:  Throw it on over a headscarf (ample flowy layers don’t hurt, either) and achieve total boho chic, circa 1974.

Platform Sandal
Summer Use:  Lengthening those bare legs. (They can’t look long enough!)
Off-Season Use:  We’re firm believers in keeping chunky sandals alive year-round by way of the black tight. Just be sure to find a pair that’s so opaque, they could pass for leggings.

Romper
Summer Use:  Surviving peak heat in peak style form.
Off-Season Use:  Those black opaque tights? They’ll look just as great under this piece, too. The romper’s essentially a dress, anyway – just pair with said tights and a cardigan for daytime, then ditch the cardigan once cocktail hour rolls around.

Bikini
Summer Use:  Summer.
Off-Season Use:  While we’ve yet to find a way to turn this into a year-round outfit, what we do know is, once resort season rolls around (and swimsuits are suddenly backordered through May), we’re oh-so-happily covered.
