Road Trip Across America: Stripes + Sequins Does Manhattan

I’ve lived in Manhattan for more than six years and absolutely love it here. When visiting, there are so many potential things to do (and eat!) that it can be overwhelming. For that reason, I wanted to hone in on two of my favorite things to do here – and of course what to pack to do them!

See a show in Central Park. My personal favorite is the New York Philharmonic. The music is incredible, and afterward there are some amazing fireworks. You’ll want to pack a picnic, bring a blanket or towel, and wear cozy clothing.

At quite the opposite end of the spectrum… Grab an early-ish dinner, go see a show, and then head out dancing. For nights like this, if you ask me, nobody makes a better party dress (that’s still classy enough to wear to dinner and a show) than alice + olivia. Here are a few of the dresses I’d pack. You’ll want a comfortable yet sexy shoe, a snazzy little clutch, and some big-time sparkle to top off the look.

Depending on your mood, here are 5 of my favorites:

Malatesta Trattoria for inexpensive Italian and hot waiters. (Get the spinach gnocchi.)

Tao for Asian, a fun party vibe, and amazing cocktails. (Get the Sea Bass appetizer!)

De Santos for yummy American cuisine in the West Village.

Balthazar for French bistro fare that never disappoints.

Alta for delicious small plates. (If you’re feeling indulgent, try the Philadelphia truffle surprise.)

And then… see a show. Wicked, The Lion King, and Book of Mormon are all great choices.

After that? Go dancing! My favorite spot is Avenue… The Dream Downtown also has an incredible rooftop bar.
