Weekend Warrior: Johnson Hartig of Libertine
I have a perfect weekend almost every weekend. I wake up around 6:30 or 7 and take my dogs for a hike up Bronson Canyon, which is about 10 minutes from my house. I live in Hancock Park, which is basically right in the middle of Hollywood. Pocket is a Chihuahua/dachshund and Terrance is a Chihuahua/miniature pinscher. They’re both rescues and they’re both totally neurotic and drive me crazy most of the time. But it’s funny because I think dogs are just magical little creatures and kind of the best parts of humans distilled in these all loving creatures. So I take them for a walk and it’s almost like being in Provence or something – five minutes up the hill and you feel like you’re in another world. And then I’ll have a leisurely brekky with a friend around 9:30 or 10. I like the restaurant Ammo and the farmer’s market Joan’s on Third. I do like a real breakfast with eggs and bacon and seven-grain toast.
Saturday night I’m usually in and have drinks at my place with friends or host a house party. I’ll go out to dinner occasionally, but I’m really a homebody and I have a house I really like so we’re there a lot.
Then I wake up on Sundays and look at open houses – I love real estate. Sunday mornings I go to a flea market – there’s one every Sunday in Los Angeles at City College or Santa Monica Airport, so as many Sundays as I can I love to go to those. Sunday night maybe I’ll roast a chicken. In the summer, I spend Sundays at the beach.
