Fall Trend Round-Up: Head-Of-The Class Fashion

Before we start, a quick intro. My name is Mikki, though you may know me by my pen name, Riverbender. I run my own fashion blog according to the tastes of teenagers, celebrity style, and the latest runway buzz.

There are so many trends we could talk about, so I’ll focus on the ones that I’ve seen in my own school hallways. For starters, ponchos are SUPER in, from runways to middle schools. BCBG, Altuzarra, and Rag & Bone all showcased great (and very different) cape looks.

Another Fall 2011 trend that’s all over the streets is Navajo-inspired prints. Brands including Vintage Havana, Delia’s, and Proenza Schouler have been going Southwestern lately. In my own wardrobe, I’m bringing in the look by adding a colorful Navajo-inspired top to my everyday wardrobe.

This season’s most eye-catching print might be Navajo, but the new hot hue is undeniably red. At the Emmys this year, the carpet wasn’t the only thing that was red. My faves: the radiant Lea Michele and Nina Dobrev. Are you wearing fiery red this fall?

I definitely can’t forget slouchy suede boots. Every girl my age is dying for the perfect pair. The other day in math class, I spotted a pair that got the entirety of my classmates ooh-ing and ah-ing!

I also want to point out the return of the trench dress – a twist on an old classic. My top contender is the season’s Burberry Prorsum look – and rumor has it that it’s a favorite of Victoria Beckham too! Another more classroom-ready rendition of the trench dress trend is a simple, light trench to wear over your everyday clothing. Autumn chills and outdoor recess just don’t mix, and the trench coat is a cute way to deal with that!

Lastly, junglicious patterns definitely deserve a spot in this post! Are you still going gaga for animal prints, or have you blown them off as fall 2010 leftovers?

I should probably leave the rest of the trend report to the experts at Rue, but be sure to visit my blog Tales of a Teenage Fashionista. Hope your fall 2011 is as fabulous as Fashion Week!
