Rue How-To: Re-Imagine A Knit Jacket

Every now and then, we like to inject a healthy dose of (fashionable) competition into the photo studio. With this in mind, the five Rue Stylists put our talents to the test in a sartorial showdown. We took one knit peacoat and made it an intricate part of five completely different outfits.

1. Working Overtime
Who knew such a relaxed jacket could come across so polished and chic? For a look that’s all about lady-like elegance, go for a classic LBD and punch it up with a pop of neon around the waist. This office outfit can easily be transformed into dinner-ready too.

2. Putting on the Glitz
Drawing inspiration from the traditional tux, combine the perfect blend of masculine and feminine pieces. Offset a white tailored menswear shirt with an oversized girly bowtie. And spectacular black and white heels are just the right finishing touch.

3. Nouveau Grunge
For the perfect borrowed-from-the-boys look, seek out slouchy jeans, a knit cap, and a plaid boyfriend shirt. Grunge done right should always look effortless and relaxed.

4. Back to Campus
Modern prep is clean and fresh. Team up smart separates with eclectic accessories. Skinny jeans, a crisp shirt, and an armful of bangles create this A+ look.

5. The Mash-Up
This down-town look can seem intimidating to pull together, but the key is in unexpected pairings. The edgy mix of stripped trousers and a sequins tank combine to make a tough-chic look.
